Organisational Structure SC TUkE

The organizational structure of the Supercomputing Center of the Technical University of Košice (SC TUKE) is multi-tiered and reflects the scientific-technical, development-oriented, and service-based nature of the institution.

also serving concurrently as Commercial Director

Responsible person for the development and implementation of cooperation with industrial and public partners, coordinates the provision of computing, analytical, and data services to external entities, manages commercial and partnership projects, and ensures compliance with contractual obligations. At the same time, he oversees marketing, communication, and the representation of SC TUKE at the national and international levels, prepares proposals for cooperation agreements, licensing agreements, and service contracts, and is accountable for the economic performance and sustainability of SC TUKE activities with respect to external funding sources. In the capacity of Commercial Director, he/she manages and is responsible for the activities of the Department of Commercial and Partnership Services (DCaPS).

Deputy Director of SC TUKE

He manages and is responsible for the activities of the Department of Technical Operations and Infrastructure (DTOaI). In the absence of the Commercial Director, he acts as their deputy. The Technical Director is responsible for the administration, operation, and strategic development of the computing, data, network, and cloud infrastructure of SC TUKE, including the secure and uninterrupted operation of the data center and supercomputing systems. He coordinates technical activities with the Institute of Computer Technology (ÚVT), oversees capacity planning, infrastructure maintenance and renewal, and ensures the implementation and compliance with cybersecurity and information security policies.

The Department ensures the comprehensive administration, operation, and security of the computing, data, and communication systems of SC TUKE, including the design, maintenance, and development of the HPC infrastructure in close cooperation with the Institute of Computer Technology (ICT).

    The Scientific Director leads the Department of Research, Development and Innovation (DRDaI) and is responsible for coordinating the scientific and applied activities of the Center, ensuring the professional standard of its solutions and the quality of SC TUKE outputs. The Scientific Director ensures the Center’s participation in national and international research projects and initiatives (e.g., EuroHPC, EOSC, EDIH), supports the development of professional capacities, education and knowledge transfer in the fields of HPC, HPDA, and AI, and promotes cooperation with TUKE faculties, research institutions, and industrial partners.

    • The Department oversees the operation of the data center, including the physical and virtual infrastructure, monitoring systems, power supply, cooling systems, and security mechanisms.
    • It is responsible for system administration, configuration, and monitoring of software, licenses, and user access rights.
    • The Department ensures the implementation of cybersecurity and information security policies.
    • It prepares technical documentation and background materials for investment projects and coordinates cooperation with technology partners at the national and international levels.
    • Furthermore, it provides technical support, ensures incident management, maintains records and renewal of technical equipment, and supports computing and data projects of TUKE as well as external partners.

    The Department develops cooperation between SC TUKE and industrial, public, and research partners and ensures the provision of professional and technical services to external entities.

    • It coordinates partnerships, prepares business models and contractual agreements, and manages the delivery of computing, data, and analytical services through the Center’s infrastructure, including the administration of customer requests and agreements.
    • In cooperation with the technical and research departments, it ensures project implementation and the transfer of results into practice.
    • The Department is responsible for marketing, promotion, and the representation of the Center.
    • It organizes professional and networking events and participates in projects focused on digitalization, AI, and innovation.
    • Furthermore, it oversees compliance of commercial activities with TUKE regulations, prepares documentation for financial planning from external funding sources, and maintains reporting on partnerships and service performance of the Center.

    • The Department implements research and development projects and participates in the design and implementation of applications, algorithms, and software solutions utilizing the Center’s computing infrastructure.
    • It cooperates with faculties, research institutions, and partners on national and international projects (e.g., EuroHPC, EOSC, EDIH).
    • The Department prepares expert documentation and background materials for infrastructure initiatives and is responsible for the development of professional capacities, the transfer of knowledge into education, and the coordination of research teams.
    • It develops the strategy for the advancement of computing and data technologies, organizes professional events and educational activities, and ensures scientific outputs.
    • In cooperation with the technical and partnership departments, it supports the deployment of new technologies and the transfer of research results into practice.

    Development Council of the SC is an advisory body to the Scientific Director and the Center’s leadership on matters related to the strategic direction of research and development activities, scientific cooperation, and the development of human capacities in the fields of HPC, HPDA, and AI.

    Users' Council of the SC is an advisory body to the Leadership of SC TUKE in matters concerning operations, service quality, and the needs of users of the computing and data infrastructure.
